DHAKA: Noted journalist, columnist Abed Khan expressed frustration as Supreme Court commuted death penalty of Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee to jail unto death for war crimes.
In an immediate reaction after verdict, Abed Khan told banglanews, “As a witness I am frustrated and honoring the Court I reject the verdict.”
“This verdict has facilitated Jamaat and hampered the government while pro-liberation people were hurt,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee was sentenced to imprisonment unto death for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
The Supreme Court handed down the final verdict differing on ICT’s one that sentenced the war criminal death penalty.
