Be part in growing economy

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina requested foreign investors to be part in making Bangladesh's dynamic and growing economy.

“I urged you to take advantage of the very liberal and favourable regulatory regime, skilled workforce and strategic location of Bangladesh to expand their businesses” she added.

She made the urge on Wednesday while addressing the inauguration of ‘International Investors' Forum 2014’ at a city hotel in the morning.

She said that her government is working to attract FDI and maintain investment friendly environment for our economic development.

However, the Board of Investment (BOI) of the government has organized the program under the patronage of the PM.

Nevertheless, the forum was attended by the representatives from the relevant public authorities, local and foreign investors, international development organizations, investment promotion agencies, foreign diplomatic missions, international experts and foreign and local media, sources said.

Mentioning ‘success of this forum will increase economic progress of this region’ the prime minister hoped that the forum will be a platform for regional and domestic investors to exchange ideas with a view of increasing the flow of intra-regional investment in South and East Asia.

It will also attract new investments in key sectors, she added.

Moreover, according to the organizers, the forum will highlight the latest situation of Bangladesh investment climate and uphold specific investment opportunities in key sectors like agribusiness.

It will also uphold the opportunities in economic zone development, she added.
