DHAKA: Customs intelligence officials detained a man with two gold bars, weighing 2 kilograms, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday.

The detainee, Ranjit, came from Malaysia by a flight named MH-102 around 11:45am and a resident of Nababganj of Dhaka.

Moinul Khan, Director General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate, confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Moinul said that the man was searched on suspicion while leaving the airport through transit lounge and recovered the gold bars hidden in the under-pocket of his pant.

Legal actions would be taken against the man, Moinul said.
