DHAKA: US Ambassador Dan W Mozena inaugurated Cold Chain Centers under ‘Cold Chain Bangladesh Alliance’ project in Tejgaon Industrial area of the city on Friday noon in a bid to provide people formalin free vegetable and food.
Golden Harvest Group, with the technical assistance of USAID and Winrock International, introduced the centers under the project for collecting and supplying high quality food using modern Technology.
Mozena said, “I am delighted that Golden Harvest Chain Network has built a Cold Chain Network to process and preserve vegetables, fruits, fish and poultry using modern technology so that people can get formalin free foods.”
He also expected that both buyers and cultivators will be profited by this.
Managing director of Golden Harvest Group Ahmed Rajeeb Samdani said for the first time such a project has been introduced in Bangladesh.
Initially we will set up cold chain centers in Gazipur, Dhaka, Comilla and Sylhet, he said.
“After buying vegetables from the farmers we will process them in the factories. Later, the vegetables will be preserved in the refrigerators from where it could be supplied through our Cold Chain Network,” he added.
Chief of Party of Cold Chain Bangladesh Alliance Dr AB Siddique and Golden Harvest Group Chairman Enamuzzaman Chowdhury, among others, were present in the inaugural ceremony.
