DHAKA: Authorities concerned on Saturday declared a halt to passenger launches plying on different internal river routes in Barisal and Bhola districts due to bad weather.

Barisal River port sources said sails of two launches were cancelled at the port following met office asked river ports to hoist riverine warning signal number two. 

Authorities concerned at Bhola also suspended plying of passengers launch in 22 routes inside the district.

No vessels bigger than 65 feet, however, will be under the deceleration.

Several thousands of people of the two districts are facing immense miseries due to the restriction.

The ban will remain effective till further notice.
