DHAKA: State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs Nasrul Hamid on Saturday categorically said ten years hence there would not be any hanging power line.
“All the power distribution lines and sub-stations will be shifted to underground,” he said.
The state minister came up with the assertions while exchanging views with journalists at Bidyut Bhaban in city.
He also said, “Most of the developed countries have their power distribution lines and sub-stations in underground.”
“The government has started working to ensure safe and ceaseless power supply. Bangladesh is moving towards a new era where we have to be prepared to face many other challenges,” he added.
Nasrul Hamid also said, “Bangladesh wants to achieve the status as developed country by 2030-2040. Power and energy sector has an important role to play to achieve the vision.”
The ruling AL leader said, “Around $10 billion would be invested in the sector in the next five years. Various large business conglomerates like Tata and Reliance of India have approached us in this regard.”
He also urged the journalists to report following the truth and highlight positive achievements.
