DHAKA: Security measures have been beefed up across the country to avoid any subversive activities during the final phase of 24-hour nationwide hartal called by Jamaat-e-Islami.

Police headquarter sent directives to law enforcers across the country to be alert for avoidance any subversive activities in sensitive spots in divisional cities and districts. 

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) forces already have been deployed in capital from Saturday night. 

Jamaat-e-Islami is enforcing countrywide 24-hour hartal protesting Supreme Court verdict that sentenced Delawar Hossain Sayedee to imprisonment unto death for war crimes. 

Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque told banglanews that strict directives were given to police to stop any subversive activities.  

DMP Media Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman told banglanews sufficient police forces will be deployed. 

We will try our level best to maintain the law and order in the city, he added.

BGB Public Relation Officer Mahsin Reza said that BGB personnel will continue patrolling to help other law enforcers. 

Paltan, Shahbagh and Rampura Thana Officer-in-Charges told banglanews that special security measures have been taken in the areas.
