SYLHET: Activists of Chhatra League, student wing of ruling Awami League, blocked Sylhet-Sunamganj road, protesting the attack on a BCL Shahjalal University of Science and Technology unit leader. 

Sources said that closing the main gate of the university, the BCL activists brought out a procession and blocked the roads. 

Earlier on Wednesday, miscreants attacked Chhatra League leader Uttam Kumar Das, 30, a student of masters’ level of Social welfare department and also former joint secretary of metropolitan Chhatra League with lethal weapon, leaving him critically injured.  

Later, the injured was rushed to Osmani Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka National Institute Of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Pangu Hospital).

Following the incident, SUST Chhatra League Vice-president Anjan Roy on Wednesday around 11:33pm called indefinite strike in the university.
