MEHERPUR: A Meherpur court on Thursday awarded life-term imprisonment to three accused in a rape and murder case at Mujibnagar upazila in the district.

Judge TM Musa of Meherpur District and Session Judge Court passed the order in the noon.

The convicts are Suruj Ali, Shamsul Alam and Abdul Jabbar.

According to FIR, on January 3, 2007, the trio raped a girl at Mujibnagar upazila and strangulated her to death.

The brother of the victim Bachhed Ali filed a case with Mujibnagar Thana against them in this connection.

Following an investigation, the court found them guilty and passed the order.
