DHAKA: Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology(BUET) has been selected to Host local edition of Hult Prize as students answer former US President Bill Clinton’s “CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND THE WORD GAP” Challenge and go head to head for US$1M.

Hult Prize Foundation recently made the announcement that BUET will host a local edition of the Hult Prize, the world’s largest student competition.

The annual Hult Prize awards one-million dollars in start-up funding to the team of students that develops the most radical and breakthrough idea to solve one of our world’s toughest social challenges.

In partnership with the President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Foundation, the Hult Prize is hosting college and university events around the world, in search of its next game-changing start-up.

Nazmus Sadat, student of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (MME), has been selected to lead the “Hult Prize at BUET” event as the Campus Director and an official representative of Hult Prize Foundation. He thinks that his peers on campus have as good as chance as anyone to go all the way and with this year’s Hult Prize.

“BUET students have been proving themselves by contributing to the lives of people with outstanding scientific research works, developmental ideas and the spirit for humanity around the world since BUET started its journey. And this is our another chance to show the world that our institution is dedicated to Impact” said Nazmus Sadat.

The winner of the intra-campus event will automatically advance to compete in one of six regional finals happening across the world.

One winning team from each host city will then move onto a summer business incubator, where participants will receive mentorship, advisory and strategic planning as they create prototypes and set-up to launch their new social business.

A final round of competition will be hosted by the Clinton Global Initiative at its annual meeting in September, where CGI delegates will select a winning team, which will be awarded the $ 1,000,000 Prize by Clinton himself.

The President has said, “The Hult Prize is a wonderful example of the creative cooperation needed to build a world with shared opportunity, shared responsibility, and shared prosperity, and each year I look forward to seeing the many outstanding ideas the competition produces.”

Hult Prize at BUET is now recruiting volunteers and registration process will be started from 1st October, 2014.
