DHAKA: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday interrogated nine police officials, including two assistant commissioners (AC) of police, over the emblazing gold bars seized from Rampura in city on March 13..
Deputy Director of the anti-graft body Jatan Kumar Roy, also investigation officer, quizzed the police officials to be present at ACC headquarters.
On September 24, the anti-graft body summoned 10 police officials, including two assistant commissioners (AC) of police for interrogation over the embezzlement of the seized gold bars on September 28.
The officials include Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Demra Zone Mainul Islam, Police Inspector Abual Khayer Matabbar, AC of Motijheel Zone Jewel Rana, Police Inspector Abul Khayer Matubbar and Assistant Sub-Inspector Abul Bashar Mia, Nayek M Sakhawat Hossain, Constables AK Azad, M Saiful Alam, Sri Nayan Kumar and M Babul Hasan.
On March 13, a gang of smugglers had abandoned 235 gold bars in a car in Rampura-Banasree area of the capital after being chased by a police team led by SI Manjurul. But the Rampura police recorded seizure of only 70 bars.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) grilled several policemen at its office in the capital's Segunbagicha for their alleged involvement in embezzling 165 gold bars.
