NARAYANGANJ: Some 11 sacrificial cows drowned in the river Shitalakhya after a trawler capsized near Sonakanda animal market of the district on Tuesday.
Sources said the incident happened when miscreants tried to snatch the trawler along with the sacrificial animals.
The cow traders, Latif and Hazrat, told banglanews that they could identify five of the snatchers.
They are Tawlad, Monir, Jahangir, Arman and Dalim from Sonakanda area.
They were taking 25 cows to the animal market and 14 of those managed to swim to the bank while the rest have been drowned, they added.
Narayanganj Water Police Camp in-charge Nazrul Islam said police already visited the place.
“We will take actions against the guilty people after identifying them,” he said.
