CHAPAI NAWABGANJ: A freedom fighter was killed as a truck hit him in front of Kansat Palli Bidyut office in Shibganj upazila of the district on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Ejabul Haque, 70, hail from North Makimpur village of the upazila.

Sub-inspector (SI) Osman of Shibganj Thana said to banglanews that a speedy bus hit Ejabul on Chapai Nawabganj-Sona Mosque highway of the area when he was going a bank to withdraw his freedom fighter allowance around 9:30am, leaving him dead on the spot.

The body was kept in the thana, the SI added.

Shibganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sayed Istiza Ahsan said the body will be laid in his family graveyard in the afternoon.
