DHAKA: Prime  Minister Sheikh Hasina has just ended United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) instead of facing any criticism and enjoyed praises over different achievements of Bangladesh.

The name Bangladesh has been echoed as an example for achieving of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Participants at the UNGA have also pronounced the name Bangladesh praiseworthily for facing the environmental changes successfully.

Bangladesh has also got importance in keeping peace world-wide by sending troops.

Besides, Bangladesh was in the list of champions among the other countries in ensuring education to its people successfully.

Country’s achievement in continuing GDP growth even after economic recession has also took place in the speeches of many world leaders at the UNGA.

The issue of holding talks with the major parties of the incumbent government and intermediate polls was not sounded by the UNGA participatory world leaders.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam was talking to banglanews in an exclusive interview after completion of the UNGA tour.

He said, “We at the UNGA could represent Bangladesh as a brand name in world politics, peace, development, environment changes, and restraining militancy and terrorism.”

Shahriar said many world leaders represented Bangladesh giving importance.

“United Nations itself also brings Bangladesh as example to its other members for our outstanding achievements,” he said adding UN has represented Bangladesh as champion in achieving education of MDGs.

Bangladesh also achieved the high rank in keeping world peace.

This year Bangladesh participated at the UNGA as member country in keeping world peace, he said.

The contribution of the country’s women as peace keepers has been viewed both in women empowerment and equity by the UN, he informed.

Bangladesh co-hosted climate change conference where Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe mentioned Bangladesh progress under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.

The state minister also told banglanews that the presidents, prime ministers or UN members hinted nothing about the January 5 Bangladesh national election.

He added: “We are passing a good time as if we can do our activities properly. Bangladesh will go ahead before the world leaders.”
