DHAKA: A total of 652 Eid jamaat will be held at 568 places in Dhaka city on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha on Monday. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is ready to provide security for the devotees.
DMP commissioner Benajir Ahmed came up with the disclosure on Sunday morning during his visit of National Eidgah (prayer ground) near the High Court compound.
He said that the DMP on Saturday met the challenges of providing security for Bijayadashami of Durga Puja, homebound people and vehicles entering the city with sacrificial animals.
With the grace of Allah we met the challenges successfully and hope that we will be able to provide total security for devotees during the Eid, he added.
According to the DMP data around one lakh and 25 thousand sacrificial cattle have been sold till now and we expect that over 3 lakh cattle will be sold by today.
The DMP commissioner further said we are also on alert so that no one can harass the devotees in local areas.
He also urged people not to drop waste of sacrificial animals here and there. He also requested the residents of flat houses to sacrifice the animals in parking places.
However, DMP security measures include the installation of close circuit cameras, control-room monitoring, preparing bomb disposal unit and RAB dog squad.
