COMILLA: A young man allegedly chopped his mother to death at Gazra village of Chauddagram upazila of the district on Monday as she refused to give money.

The deceased was identified as Rokeya Begum, 42, wife of Abdul Maleq of the village.

Officer-in-charge Uttam Kumar Chakrabarti of Chauddagram Thana informed banglanews that Rokeya’s son Hayat Nabi chopped her indiscriminately as she refused to give money at noon.

Later, locals whisked her off to the local hospital but she left her breath on the way.

However, the law enforcers detained Nabi.
