DHAKA: A 6-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her step mother and dumped it in a drum at their bathroom in Dhalpur area of city’s Jatrabari on Friday.

The victim was identified as Maimuna, daughter of Abdur Razzak of the area.

Victim’s grandmother Fulmati spotted the body in the morning and later, locals informed police.

Maimuna’s step mother, Sarmin Akhter, often tortured her indiscriminately that may be the cause of her death, Fulmati added.

Officer-in-charge Abani Shankar Kar of Jatrabari Thana confirmed the matter.

He said police recovered the body that bore several deep injury marks.

Police also detained suspected ‘killer’ Sharmin in this connection.
