DHAKA: A gazette notification on removal of Post Telecommunications and ICT Minister Abdul Latif Siddique was published on Sunday.

Cabinet Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan confirmed the matter.

On September 29, the minister said he was against Hajj and Tablig and that the hajj is wastage of valuable money and manpower.

Latif Siddqui made the remarks at a view exchange meeting with expatriates of Tangail living in New York at a hotel at Jackson Heights in New York.

He also criticized about prime minister’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and insulted journalists in the program.

Siddique went to the USA as part of Hasina’s entourage for the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Prime Minister decided to remove him from his post following his absurd comments and conveyed that to the Cabinet Division.

However, after his controversial comment the religious people showed a widespread protest against him.
