Gov't plans to introduce e-voting system: PM

Dhaka: The government plans to introduce electronic voting during in the time of the upcoming election to Dhaka City Corporation to make polls more transparent and credible.

 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina disclosed the plan at her office in a farewell meeting with Reneta Loc Desaliyen at the PMO Wednesday, when the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations and also resident representative of UNDP in Bangladesh called on the premier.

 

Later, Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Abul Kalam Azad told the press that They also discussed UNDP's contribution to developing democratic institutions and parliamentary democracy in Bangladesh.

 

Quoting Sheikh Hasina, Azad also said the government is considering actively the launch of modern technology to ensure a transparent voting system.

 

"The PM also urged the oppositions active participation in making the parliament more effective," he added.
