CHITTAGONG: Rail communication between Chittagong and other parts of the country was restored Sunday morning after 15 hours of suspension due to accident.

“The Subarna Express left Feni for Chittagong at about 9:58am,” said Railway East zone official Feroz Iftekhar to banglanews24.com.

Earlier, the communication was suspended after five bogies of a Chittagong-bound freight train derailed near Fazilpur in Feni at 6.30pm on Saturday.

Hundreds of passengers suffered a lot as a number of trains including the Subarna Express got stranded on the route following the derailment, said railway officials.

“Although the rail communication has become normal, some scheduled train services including Chittagong bound Godhuli and Sagorika Expresses were suspended. But the rest of trains on different routes would leave in time,” said Iftekhar.
