RANGPUR: Two journalists were reportedly assaulted by the doctors, interns and staff of Rangpur Medical College Hospital while collecting information on Saturday morning.
They are Bayezid Ahamed, the district correspondent of private satellite television channel 71tv and Moudud Dalim, cameraperson of RTV.
Bayezid Ahamed told banglanews that the duty doctor of the children’s ward first misbehaved with him while collecting information from there.
He also said, “Later, a group of doctors, interns and staff took me to the room of the department’s head Dr Mostakin and beat me severely. They also confined me inside the room.”
According to the 71tv Rangpur Correspondent, his camera and devices were taken away.
Moreover, the hospital staff beat RTV cameraperson Moudud Dalim and broke his camera when he had reached there after being informed.
Nevertheless, a group of journalists, later, rescued them in presence of police.
Confirming the matter Rangpur Police Super (SP) Abdur Razzaque said police are looking into the matter.
