DHAKA: The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has finalized the report against three accused about their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971.
The accused are Mahidur Rahman, Afsar Hossain Chutu and Forkan Mallik.
Chief coordinator of the probe body Abdul Hannan Khan made the assertion at a press conference at Dhanmondi on Monday.
He said, “The final reports of the investigations will be submitted at the tribunal on October 28.”
On September 15, Mahidur Rahman, 84, of Dadanchak village and Afsar Hossain alias Chutu, 65, of Satrosia village of Chapainawabganj were arrested in a criminal case.
The duo, now in Chapainawabganj jail, had allegedly been members of Razakar Bahini, an auxiliary force of the Pakistan Army, in 1971.
Both Mahidul and Afsar had links with Razakar Bahini in Chapainawabganj at the time, and allegedly committed crimes, including murders and mass killing, prosecutor Sahidur Rahman said.
However, the investigation agency chief coordinator Abdul Hannan Khan said the investigation started on February 11, and after the investigation, the final report has been prepared consisting of some 956 pages in seven volumes.
Besides, the tribunal asked the prosecution to submit an investigation report on November 3 over the allegations against the war crimes suspect Forkan Mallik of Patuakhali district.
The directive came after prosecutor Mukhlesur Rahman Badal placed a progress report of the probe into the accusation against the alleged wartime commander of Razakar Bahini in Mirzaganj upazila of Patuakhali and sought more time to complete the investigation.
The investigation agency of the tribunal began looking into the alleged war crimes by Forkan on June 25, the day he was arrested from Rupatali bus stand area in Barisal city.
