DHAKA: A day-long ‘pink road show’ will be organized in city on Tuesday with a view to creating awareness on breast cancer among the people.

Bangladesh Breast Cancer Awareness Forum (BBCFA) will organize the road show to be begun at 9:00am and it will continue till 9:00pm on the day.

October has been observed as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month globally.

People from different walks of life, including Breast Cancer experts, journalists and brave people who won the battle against breast cancer will join the road show.

The awareness campaign road march will start from National Press Club premises and visit some 15 important spots of the city to make people aware about the disease by distributing leaflets.

Cancer survivor poet and also a lawmaker Kazi Rozi, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) vice-chancellor Professor Pran Gopal Dutta, National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital (NICRH) director Dr M Shamiul Islam are expected to be present in the awareness program.

The Bangladesh government, along with non-government organizations (NGO), has been observing October as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month for the past few years as well.

However, some 12 local organizations and international organizations formed Bangladesh Breast Cancer Awareness Forum (BBCFA) in 2013 to increase mass awareness against the breast cancer.

Earlier on October 10, the nation observed Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

However, the NICRH and BBCAF are jointly arranging month-long awareness programs across the country.
