ASHULIA: About four hundred workers of garment factory Fashion.Com Limited in Ashulia staged demonstration on Thursday protesting physical assaults to a fellow worker by an officer of the factory.

Since morning, the workers took position inside the factory and went on work abstention demanding dismissal of the blameworthy officer.

Workers said, one M Hasan Islam joined in the factory as a knitting operator on August 26. On that day, factory production manager Azharul Islam assaulted Hasan physically in front of all workers over a trifling matter. 

Protesting the assault, on Tuesday, factory workers came to the work place, started demonstration halting works demanding removal of Azharul.

The workers vowed that they would not resume working until the production manager is fired.

Industry police-1 director Mostafizar Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Police forces have been sent to the spot and talks with the factory authorities are underway to resolve the matter, said the director.
