BSF firing hurts 2 Bangladeshis

THAKURGAON: Two Bangladeshis were injured as Indian Border Security Force (BSF) fired gunshots in Ratnai frontier of Baliadangi upazila of the district early Tuesday. 

The firing took place near International pillar No. 382 at around 4:00am Tuesday around 13 hours after a sector commander-level talks between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and BSF.

The injured are Idris Ali, 34, son of Khalij Uddin of Udaypur Taltala village of the upazila, and Chaitu Mian, 30, son of Dudu Mohammad of Ratnai Barua village of same upazila.

Thakurgaon-30 BGB acting commanding officer major Towhid Bin Ishhaq confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Towhid Bin Ishhaq said, forces from 14 BFS Sonamoti camp shot at the two traders near the pillar when they went to India to bring cattle, leaving them injured. 

Later the injured somehow managed to enter the Bangladesh territory. 

BGB issued a protest note over the firing and called for a flag meeting in this regard.

On Monday noon, a sector commander-level flag meeting between BGB and BSF was held in Jagdal frontier area.

BGB Thakurgaon sector commander colonel M Akramul Haque and BSF Kishanganj sector commander Brigadier Bing S Panwar led the meeting on behalf of their respective sides.

Different issues including firing in border, killing and detaining   Bangladeshi citizens, peace and discipline were discussed at the meeting.
