DHAKA: Just after a couple of hours, customs officials seized more 2-kg gold at Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday noon.
A passenger, Mizanur Rahman of Narshingdi, was nabbed in this connection.
Customs joint commissioner Kazi Mohammad Zia Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.
He said the customs officials on suspicion held Mizanur Rahman, who were coming from Rome and passing the airport’s green channel keeping a silver kettle in his hand.
After interrogation, they found 2-kg of gold pasted inside the kettle, he added.
Earlier in the day, the customs official detained a Malaysian citizen Raza Baslina Binte Raza Malek.
Armed Police Battalion assistant police super Noor-e-Alam Siddique told banglanews that, acting on a tip-off, the law enforcers detained the woman from green channel area.
After searching her, they found 6-kg of gold.
