CHITTAGONG: Customs officials detained a man with 45 gold bars, weighing around five kilograms, were seized at Shah Amanat International Airport in port city on Tuesday night.
The detainee is Badiul Alam, 30, resident of Rauzan of the district.
Assistant Commissioner of Customs Shahadat Jamil, confirming the matter, said that the gold was recovered from Badiul Alam, a passenger of Flydubai, came here from Dubai around 8:20pm.
“Later, the passenger was challenged by customs officials when confusion aroused about his passport issue,” the intelligence official added.
“Later the gold bars, worth Tk 2.30 crore, found hidden in his socks,” he informed banglanews.
