DHAKA: Jamaat-e-Islami on Wednesday called countrywide hartal for Thursday, Sunday and Monday protesting the verdict of International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) in the war crimes case against its Ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami.
A press of Jamaat Publicity office made the disclosure on Wednesday noon.
The announcement came minutes after ICT-1 chairman Justice M Enayetur Rahim awarded Nizami death sentence for committing crimes against humanity in the country’s war of independence in 1971.
The first International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh on Wednesday awarded death sentence to Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Nizami for committing mass killing in Dhulaurha village of Pabna, the sixth number of charge out of 16.
Tribunal chairman Justice M Enayetur Rahim handed down the verdict.
