BRAHMANBARIA: Some 143 selected candidates staged demonstration in front of head office of Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL) at Birasar Thursday. 

The candidates took position in the area around 8:00am and demanded appointment letters.

Earlier on October 19, the candidates staged demo over same demand. Then Managing Director (Human resources development department) of the company Nasibuzzaman Talukdar assured that the matter will be solved at the board meeting, but still the matter remained unsolved. 

On April 8, 2011, a written test was taken for employee recruitment by Bangladesh Gas Field Company and 143 candidates were selected for final appointment. 

Later, following an allegation of corruption, parliamentary committee conducted investigation and then company director Nurul Islam and managing director (HR) Mazibur Rahman was dismissed which stopped the recruitment process. 

Then, the candidates filed a writ petition with High Court. Later, on June 23, the court, gave six months time to appoint the candidates but still the recruitment process remained pending.
