DHAKA: A pedestrian was killed in a road accident in Banani area of the city on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Joy Acharya, 40, resident of Mirpur area.

Police sources said a rashly-driven private car knocked him down while he was crossing road in front of Sainik Club of Banani around 4:00pm, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Banani Thana Sub-Inspector Amirul Islam confirmed the accident to banglanews.
