DHAKA: The publication of Saptahik 2000, a Transcom Group published weekly magazine, shut down because of continuous loss.
Publisher of the magazine Mahfuz Anam, also Editor of The Daily Star, shared the news of shutting down with the employees on Thursday.
Confirming the matter, several journalists of the weekly told banglanews that the edition published on October 31 is the last publication of the magazine that always drew reader’s attention by investigative reports.
They further said that the Transcom Group authorities took the decision of closing the publication of the magazine a few months ago without informing its journalists and employees.
However, Associate Editor of Saptahik 2000 Maruf Raihan told banglanews that the authorities assured of paying the journalists and employees as per law.
Late Shahadat Chowdhury was the first Editor of Saptahik 2000 that was first published in 1998, he added.
Maruf Raihan also said that the publisher of the magazine Mahfuz Anam also showed his sympathy while sharing the news of closing down with the journalists and employees.
