Fire breaks out at BSEC building

DHAKA: A fire broke out at Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation building (BSEC Bhaban) in the capital’s Karwan Bazar area Friday noon.

Witnesses told banglanews that the fire is sweeping through the multi-storied building that houses the daily Amar Desh along with private TV stations NTV and RTV.

The flames, however, originated from the daily Amar Desh office at sixth floor of the building but the cause of fire is yet to be known.

Confirming the matter, Fire Service and Civil Defense control room officer-in-charge Enayet Ullah said that on information, 15 fire fighting units rushed in and trying to douse the blaze.

“More fire fighting units are being sent there,” he added. “All the people who were inside the building came out safely.”
