BAGERHAT: Bangladesh Navy detained 28 more Indian fishermen for intruding into the naval territory of Bangladesh.

Sources told banglanews the detainees are going to be handed over to the Mongla Thana.

However, Navy detained at least 92 Indian and 20 Sri Lankan fishermen in last two weeks, sources added.

The newly detained fishermen were fishing near the fairway buoy in the Bay of Bengal, said Manjur Elahi, sub-inspector of Mongla Thana, quoting the Navy.

“A patrol team of the navy detained the fishermen Thursday noon, some 95 nautical miles off from Mongla seaport,” he added.

Two fishing trawler ‘FB Dakshineswari’ and ‘FB Hanuman’ which were used by the intruder fishermen were also seized, said the police officer.
