ASHULIA: At least five people were injured in a fire that broke out in a Jhut (garment waste) godown at Bhadail area in Ashulia, at the outskirt of the city, Saturday morning.

Witnesses said that the fire broke out around 5:55am at the godown of Keya Enterprise and the blaze grasped the whole building instantly.

On information, three fire fighting units of DEPZ rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after trying for two hours.

Senior Station Officer of the Fire Service Abdul Hamid Mia told banglanews that the fire gutted almost the whole godown.

Owner of the Keya Enterprise Azizul Haque told banglanews that the properties gutted worth about Tk 5.70 crore.

He also claimed that it was a warehouse not a jhut godown where export-oriented goods were kept.

He also alleged that the fire incident might be sabotage, not accident.

Officer-in-Charge of Ashulia Thana Sheikh Badrul Alam told banglanews that on information, police forces were sent to the spot.
