DHAKA: Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) authorities have launched the country’s largest operation theater (OT).

BSMMU vice-chancellor Professor Pran Gopal Dutta made the announcement of the inauguration of the OT complex at a press conference on Saturday.

The VC told journalists that the well-equipped operation theater features various categories, including 24 modern OT, 24 recovery beds, 27 post-operative beds, 21 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 16 High Dependency Unit (HDU) beds.

He also said that the operation activities had started from 8:00am in the day in the OT complex.

He hoped that it would make the way of medical treatment for poor, lower and middle income people easy.

The operation theater complex was setup at the seventh and ninth floors of the medial university’s cabin block, the newsmen were told.
