DHAKA: Many patients lie untreated due to power outage at Dhaka Medical College Hospital as well as across the country.
There is a lack of supply of water and food at the hospital as power went off in most parts of the country from the morning.
So, the hospital authorities are unable to serve foods to the patients of the hospital as power outage caused by national grid failure.
DMCH Deputy Director Mushfiqur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Kitchen Supervisor of the hospital said that there are some 3,000 patients in the hospital where foods are available for only 400 patients.
The whole hospital got a spectral look after evening as there was hardly any light in wards. However, Burn Unit, ICU, Operation Theatre and Gynecology ward had lights only.
Mushfiqur Rahman said that the backup of generator will last for next 5-6 hours.
He also said that generator service will cope with the power demand in the hospital if fuel is available.
The hospital also suspended test and imaging service due to the power crisis. Many patients with serious injuries were seen waiting in front of the pathology department, radiology and imaging services to resume service.
The nurses of DMCH are facing dilemma to serve the patients as darkness engulfed the hospitals.
However, patients as well as their attendants are facing the severe sufferings due to this unwanted situation.
