DHAKA: A fire broke out at a 7-storied building in Nawabpur area of the city Saturday night.
Fire freighters doused the flame around 11:30pm on the day after one and half-an-hours efforts.
Originated from somewhere of the building, the fire soon spread out to other floors.
Locals told banglanews that the building housed several godowns of different factories and private institutions.
There were paint godowns on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors; a private bank kept its documents and papers on 5th floor whereas the 6th floor was used to store the hardware accessories.
Fire Service and Civil Defense director general Ali Ahammed Khan said that the reason of fire could not be known yet.
No causality was reported. The damage caused by the fire could be estimated yet.
