Shibir men held in city during vandalism

DHAKA: Police detained two activists of Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, from city’s Kajla in Jatrabari while vandalizing buses Monday dawn.

Sources told banglanews that among the detainees, one has been identified as Rokonuzzaman Rony, a student of Islamic Studies of Jagannath University.

Confirming the matter, Jatrabari Thana sub-inspector (SI) Akash said that the two were detained around 7:30am while vandalizing buses.

The 48-hour shutdown, beginning from 6:00am Sunday, will end on Tuesday morning.

Jamaat-e-Islami imposed the hartal protesting its Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami’s death sentence.

However, three cocktails were also recovered in city on last day’s hartal for this time.

Police found the cocktails wrapping with a plastic bag at Tejgaon Linkroad Flyover intersection around 7:45am.
