DHAKA: Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, chief lawyer of death convict Jamaat leader Kamaruzzaman, on Wednesday said they will file a review petition after getting the full copy of verdict.
He also expected that the verdict would not be executed till the verdict is published. “Otherwise it would be the violation of law,” he added.
Khandaker Mahbub made the remark in a press briefing at Supreme Court Ainjibi Samity auditorium in the noon.
On Monday (November 3), the Supreme Court Appellate Division upheld the death sentence against Jamaat assistant secretary general Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.
He was sentenced to death in 3rd and 4th number charges—brought for the mass killing in Shohagpur village of Sherpur district and killing of Golam Mostafa.
On May 9, 2013, the ICT-2, led-by Justice Obaidul Hassan, awarded capital punishment to the Jamaat assistant secretary general for his crimes against humanity during country’s Liberation War in 1971.
