ISHWARDI (PABNA): Two train passengers were killed while they were riding on the roof of the train and got hit with a bridge near Ishwardi’s Muladuli Railway Station of the district on Wednesday.

Of the two deceased, one was identified as Lablu Sheikh, 22, son of Abu Bakar Sheikh in Parchalana area of Dacope upazila of Khulna district.

On information, police recovered the body from the rooftop of the train in Ishwardi Rail Station in the morning.

Ishwardi Railway Thana Office-in-Charge Humayan Kabir told banglanews that some of the passengers were traveling from Dhaka to Khulna sitting on Intercity Chitra Express’s rooftop.

When the train was crossing a bridge, the passengers got hit with the bridge on the way. It left Lablu dead on the spot and another passenger critically injured.

The fatally injured another one was rushed to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries.

An Unnatural Death (UD) case was filed in this connection with the thana.
