DHAKA: Inspector General (IG) of Prisons Syed Iftekhar Uddin held a closed-door meeting with Law Minister Anisul Haque on Wednesday.

The meeting started at 12:00pm and lasted for 15 minutes.

Sources said they, during the parley, discussed the execution of war crimes convict Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.

After the meeting, Anisul Haque held an emergency meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Earlier, the family members of the death row convict Kamaruzzaman went to Dhaka Central Jail to meet him around 10:00am.

Top government officials also held a closed-door meeting at the secretariat that included the state ministers for law and home affairs along with IG prisons and the home secretary before the execution of Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah.
