DHAKA: A private university student allegedly killed himself by drinking poison at his rented house in Mogbazaar area of the city Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Masum, 26, who was a Civil Engineering student at a private university in the city.

One Nazrul Islam, who was known to the deceased, told he found Masum lying on the floor inside his room at 9:00pm on the day and foam was coming out of his mouth.

Later Nazrul rushed him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where on-duty declared him dead at 11:00am.

Doctors at the hospital’s Emergency unit confirmed that Masun died after drinking poison.

On information, friends of Masum came to the hospital and confirmed his identity.

DMCH police outpost acting In-Charge Hidar Ali confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Police detained Nazrul on suspicion as the deceased has close relatives here, said Haidar.
