RANGPUR: Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation on Tuesday called for an indefinite transport strike in the division protesting vandalism at the house of its Rangpur Divisional general secretary MA Mazid and beating up his parents.
MA Mazid told banglanews that no member of Rangpur District Motor Sramik Union was involved with the murder of Jubo League leader Imran.
“He was killed out of infighting but a vested quarter has been trying to blame the transport workers,” he added.
He also demanded actions against those involved with the murder of Imran.
Earlier around 10:00pm on Monday, opponents chopped Jubo League leader Imran who succumbed to his injuries at Rangpur Medical College and Hospital around 6:30am on Tuesday.
Imran’s supporters blamed MA Mazid’s nephew Ashraful and his supporters.
Meanwhile, Imran’s supporters vandalised the house of MA Mazid and staged demonstrations blocking the Rangpur-Kurigram highway.
During the time, they assaulted district cameraperson of ‘Channel-I’ Sumon and burned his camera.
Additional law enforcers were deployed in the Satmatha area as both the groups have taken position here.
