Enamul, Palash remanded in Sagar-Runi murder case

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed two accused on two-day remand each on charge of killing journalist couple Golam Mustafa Sarwar alias Sagar Sarwar and Meherun Nahar Runa alias Meherun Runi.

Metropolitan Magistrate Tareque Moinul Islam Bhuiyan passed the remand order after a hearing when DB police produced the accused before the court with a 7-day remand plea.

The accused include Palash Rudra Paul and Enam Ahmed alias Humayun Kabir, two watchmen of the murdered journalists’ residence.

Sagar Sarwar, news editor of private TV station ‘Maasranga’, and his wife Meherun Runi, a senior reporter of another TV channel ‘ATN Bangla’, were brutally killed at their rented apartment in city’s West Razabazar area on February 11 in 2012.

Runi’s brother, Nowsher Alam Roman filed a case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on February 12, 2012.
