DHAKA: The Supreme Court has taken away Crime Investigation Department (CID) from the investigation of gruesome seven-murder case of Narayanganj.
A five-member Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Mohammad Mozammel Hossain passed the order in response to a review petition filed for state.
Earlier on May 5, the state prosecution filed a petition to the High Court requesting to take away CID from the investigation of the case.
High Court rejected the plea of the prosecution on July 10.
Then the appellate division responded to the prosecution and passed the order on November 10.
On April 27, seven men, including Narayanganj City councilor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar, were abducted. Their bodies were found floating in river Shitalakhyya some days later.
Relatives of Nazrul Islam and Chandan Sarkar filed two separate cases over the incident.
After the investigation, several progress reports were submitted to the court. The next hearing will be held on November 13.
