DHAKA: The US Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Ambassador Charles Rivkin met Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque at the ministry on Thursday.
During the parley, they had hour-long discussions on Bangladesh-US bilateral relations with particular emphasis on economic and business affairs.
Ambassador Rivkin said that all the indicators suggest that Bangladesh-US relations are broadening and deepening. He said that Washington DC considers the 3rd Partnership Dialogue between Bangladesh and United States a great success.
The secretary briefed Ambassador Rivkin on the political and economic stability of Bangladesh which ensured a steady growth and brought confidence in the business.
He mentioned about the steps taken by the Government for strengthening socio-economic development in particular the numerous initiatives in the economic field for upgrading the country in to a middle-income country as envisaged in the Vision 2021.
The Foreign Secretary congratulated Ambassador Rivkin for initiating all important Climate Change negotiation with China and said climate vulnerable countries like Bangladesh wants to see a positive outcome of that negotiation.
The US Assistant Secretary praised Bangladesh’s sustained substantial growth and said that the growth should attract the US investors for investing in Bangladesh.
