DHAKA: With a view to collecting more Bangladeshi students, Malaysian national Azahari Bin Omar, head of admission department of Kuala Lumpur-based Financial Training & Management Services (FTMS) College, is staying at Dhaka now.
While present students of FTMS College urged the admission seekers to be careful before meeting Azhari as there are several allegations against the college about taking fake students, giving false hope of part-time jobs, even it forcibly keep the passports of the students.
Azahari, who arrived on Friday, is on a mission to collect students from Bangladesh and will campaign for admission for the college at three consultancy firms in the city till Tuesday.
On Friday afternoon, Azahari sat at the office of HT Global Limited in the city’s Siddheswari area.
At the spot, several students told banglanews, as being suggested by Azahari, they have filled up the admission forms of the college without any securitization of educational certificates and other papers.
Azahari also asked them to apply for visa with bank statement and offer letter through the consultancy firm, the students added.
The FTMS officer will run campaign at the office of Prominent Consultancy in the city’s Uttara area from 11:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday and Visa World Wide Admission Consultancy Firm at Dhamondi on Monday and Tuesday.
Students alleged that Azahari becomes cordial during the admission campaign but his real face is unveiled to the students after they arrive in Malaysia.
Then the students understand they have been fell victim to the cheating and are no longer able to meet Azhaei there.
Preferring anonymity, a student, who enrolled at FTMS, told banglanews that Azahari gets huge commission for admission of each student from Bangladesh.
Azhari comes to Bangladesh every year with a target to catch students. On invitation from Malaysia Study Centre, he ran admission campaign for the college from August 19 to August 21, 2013.
On August 22 of that year, Azhari also ran the campaign on behalf of Wings Consultant Limited in the city.
The consultancy firm also provided huge amount of money to the FTMS admission expert, told the student, who studied in the city’s Tejgaon College before leaving for Malaysia.
The FTMS College has often been accused of admitting fake students, sealing students’ passports upon arrival there and giving false part-time job offer during admission and many others.
The college has also allegedly been doing manpower business in Bangladesh.
The former Tejgaon College-student told banglanews that Bangladeshi students should be careful about Azhari. Because the FTMS College is mainly doing manpower business there, he added.
Azahari, a graduate of University of Malaya, is mainly responsible to run the FTMS’ admission campaign in the South Asian countries and also the head of marketing department at FTMS.
