Sweden assures assistances to RMG sector

DHAKA: Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven assured that his government will continue to provide assistances to the garment industry of Bangladesh to gain a world level quality.

Stefan made the assurance when Bangladesh Ambassador to Sweden and Nordic countries – Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway – M Golam Sarwar met him during a view exchange meeting at Foreign Ministry of the country on Monday.

A press release signed by M Kamruzzaman, second secretary and head of chancery of Embassy of Bangladesh to Stockholm, disclosed the matter.

During the meet, the ambassador briefed the Swedish premier about different measures initiated by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on infrastructural development of the country.  

Sarwar also briefed Stefan Löfven on improvement of Bangladesh garment sector and various programs jointly taken by Bangladesh Garment Manufactures and Exporters Association (BGMEA), European and North American countries.

Stefan also praised the measures taken Bangladesh government to ensure workers’ rights.

The ambassador also held regular discussions with topnotch officials of world famous companies Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M) and Lyndex at different times as part of plan to increase Bangladesh’s export to the Nordic countries.
