DHAKA: The probe committee submitted the progress report to the High Court on Tuesday on the gruesome Narayanganj seven-murder case.
An HC bench comprising Justice Mohammad Rezaul Haque and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore fixed December 10 for further order of next steps.
Earlier on November 11, a five-member Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Mohammad Mozammel Hossain ordered to take away Criminal Investigation Department (CID) from the investigation.
On May 5, the HC bench of Justice Mohammad Rezaul Haque and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore ordered the Public Administration Ministry, Law and Home Affairs Ministries, Police, RAB and CID to form a probe committee.
The court ordered the committee to investigate about the involvement of former and current members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), the administration and the law enforcers.
On May 7, a probe committee consisting of seven members led by additional secretary Shahjahan Ali Mollah of Public Administration Ministry had been formed for the investigation.
The HC also ordered to submit the report by seven days.
However, the committee and the law enforcers submitted the reports several times.
On April 27, seven men, including Narayanganj City councilor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar, were abducted. Their bodies were found floating in river Shitalakhyya three days later.
