LALMONIRHAT: A district Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 awarded life-term imprisonment to three people for violating a girl in Lalmonirhat. 

Justice M Siddiqul Arefin Chowdhury of the tribunal passed the order on Wednesday noon.

The convicts are Mansur Ali, 30, Asadul Haque, 32, and Shahjahan, 28, of Boro Basuria village of Sadar upazila.

They are also fined Tk 100,000 each, in default, they have to serve six-month imprisonment.

The court sources said Mansur, Asadul and Shahjahan picked the girl, 14, when she was going to his cousin’s house and violated her on February 25 in 2010.

The next day, victim’s mother filed a case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

After the hearing, the justice passed the order in presence of the convicts.   

Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Akmal Hossain Ahmed confirmed the matter to banglanews.
